As CEO | Executive Director, she provides overall leadership and drives Homestead’s growth through grantmaker and community partnerships. She believes deeply in the power of permanently affordable homeownership to transform lives, close the wealth gap, and anchor resilient, thriving neighborhoods. Since 2014 under her leadership, Homestead has expanded from 180 to 258 homes in trust, established a pipeline of 250 additional homes, more than doubled its net assets, and nearly tripled its operating budget. She has raised more than $20 million in unrestricted donations to support Homestead’s mission and long-term sustainability. Kathleen brings to her role experience in commercial real estate development and commitments to environmental sustainability, land-based justice, and equity. Drawn to Homestead’s values of democratic governance and community ownership, she leads efforts to deepen the organization’s culture of inclusion and shared power. She has led the organization’s work to establish equity-centered partnerships with neighborhood coalitions for housing development that fulfills community vision and values. She chairs the Homeownership Affinity Group of the Housing Development Consortium and leads the coalition of Washington State Community Land Trusts in legislative advocacy.
