Bio

Michael Mariano, AIA is a founding partner of Schemata Workshop with over three decades of architectural experience. With extensive experience on complex projects for both public and private entities, Mike successfully leads and manages the design and project delivery process. He is dedicated to incorporating sustainability and resiliency principles into each project, and he has a wealth of experience in complex projects.

He is chair of the AIA Seattle Resiliency and Adaptation Committee and was the co-chair of the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict when they became certified under the EcoDistricts protocol. He has been a long-standing champion for community-wide sustainability and resiliency.

Mike is a co-founder and architect for Capitol Hill Urban Cohousing, a 9-home mixed-use development on a 4,300sf parcel in a dense urban Seattle neighborhood.  He was able to utilize the single-stair provision of the Seattle Building Code to create livable family sized homes surrounding a central courtyard.  Mike has worked with the following cohousing groups and communities: Daybreak Cohousing, Siskiyou Cohousing, Adams Creek Cohousing, Upper Langley Cohousing, Dragonfly Cohousing, Skagit Commons and Sunnyside Village.
