Explore Community Living: Cohousing Tours

Join us for immersive tours to visit thriving cohousing communities across the Seattle region. Each tour showcases a different set of communities—from urban, walkable cohousing in the heart of the city to island living and North Sound communities rooted in nature and connection. You’ll hear directly from residents, tour shared spaces and homes, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how these communities were created and sustained.

Select tours include lunch or a shared meal hosted at one of the communities we visit—making it a wonderful opportunity to connect, ask questions, and experience cohousing firsthand. Choose one tour or join multiple to explore the full diversity of cohousing in the Pacific Northwest.

Thursday, May 14 — Vashon Island Communities + Dinner

Travel to Vashon Island to visit Vashon Island Cohousing, a well-established community with more than 30 years of lived experience. Hear from long-time residents about what it takes to sustain community over time, and explore shared spaces and neighborhood design that support daily connection. The tour concludes with a memorable farm-to-table dinner hosted at the community.

Friday, May 15 — Seattle Area Communities Tour

Spend the day touring a set of distinct urban cohousing communities and projects that reflect the creativity and diversity of Seattle’s community living ecosystem. This tour includes a mix of established and newer communities, offering a close look at how cohousing takes shape in city settings—design-wise, socially, and operationally. The day includes lunch hosted at a local community, with time to connect and learn directly from residents.

Sunday, May 17 — North Sound Communities Tour

Journey north to explore cohousing communities in the North Sound region, where many communities are shaped by strong ties to the natural environment and longstanding local relationships. This tour highlights a range of community types and locations, with time to hear resident stories, tour common facilities, and learn how these communities support shared governance, aging in community, and mutual support. The day includes lunch hosted at a local community.

Sunday, May 17 — Bainbridge Island Walking Tour + Lunch

Enjoy a half-day walking tour centered in Bainbridge Island, featuring Bainbridge Island Cohousing and a neighboring cottage community. This tour offers a great opportunity to explore cohousing on a smaller footprint, see how design supports connection in a walkable setting, and hear from residents about day-to-day life in community. The tour includes lunch at Bainbridge Island Cohousing.

Please note: Refunds (minus a 10% service fee) will be available on bus tour ticket cancellations until April 30. Cancellations made on or after May 1, 2026 will not be refunded.
