Any time two or more people live together and share resources, disagreements are bound to come up. The more different those people are (age, finance, culture, race, gender, politics, etc) the more frequent and intense those disagreements may be. By the time you get 30 or more people together to live in a cohousing community, you’re going to have a lot of different opinions, life experiences, and perspectives and thus a lot of disagreements. Sometimes these disagreements get pushed under the rug; sometimes they cause conflict that escalates. Either way, while the disagreements may be unavoidable, how we navigate them matters.
This session is about how to live together with differences and disagreements while maintaining connected relationships. It won’t include magic solutions, but it will include strategies for navigating disagreements more effectively, reducing the discomfort and bringing more growth into the experience of community life.
