University of Washington – College of Built Environments
Gould Hall
3949 15th Ave NE | Seattle, WA 98105
We’re excited to host The Cohousing Summit: Seattle at Gould Hall, part of the University of Washington’s College of Built Environments. As a hub for education and learning—bringing together students, practitioners, and researchers focused on housing, design, and community—UW is a fitting place to gather for a day of shared exploration, practical tools, and connection.
Why Seattle?
Seattle is one of the most influential places in North America for cohousing—home to early U.S. communities, nationally recognized designers and developers, and a strong culture of innovation, with everything from established urban cohousing to island and North Sound communities rooted in shared values and mutual support. By gathering here, we’re tapping into that legacy—bringing together residents, aspiring community builders, and professionals to share lessons, build relationships, and imagine what’s next for cohousing.
Accommodations
While we haven’t arranged room blocks or special rates, we’ve put together a short list of lodging options that are convenient for getting to the UW campus. You’re welcome to book directly with any of these options. Staying anywhere along the Link Light Rail line will provide easy access to all events.

The College Inn (University District)

Transportation
The Link Light Rail will be the most convenient way to travel between lodging, tours, and the Summit. Attendees should plan to use transit whenever possible. For the Summit, exit at U District Station. For most community tours, Capitol Hill Station will be the primary stop. Parking at tour sites and the Summit venue will be extremely limited.
Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are available, but fares in Seattle are higher than in many cities due to local minimum wage requirements.
